Alas, it was time to swing out of my crazy Halloween phase and switch gears towards a few fall goodies and then Christmas ,Christmas!
You can follow the title to purchase these guys on esty or you can buy them individually for $6 each with postage or 3 for $15 with postage included in the US , from my poppy shoppe or country fried shoppe or email me.
They are made of muslin and have a very cool cutter quilt tails. I am thinking of making a set for my Ma to use as place card holders for Thanksgiving, but they can be bowl fillers, tucks or, if youd like ornies.
Did you ever wonder about turkeys? Where they got the goof ball persona? Why is a crazy person a turkey?.... well I'm sure I dont know and if you find out let me know lol!
We have all kinds of wild turkeys here in Northwest Missouri, and I would never call them goofy. Goofy looking maybe,,,
at our old farm house we had a metal railing going up the back porch steps. Every night I would go out and "slop" the dogs( they got our left overs). One night I walked out, did my thing and was walking in, when I realized that I had walked right past a wild female turkey roosting on the railing!
Turkeys can be vicious if provoked and have very long back claws that they use for fighting. I think (think) that these back claws are prized by hunters as well.
annnnnnnnyway~ there I was spoon and bowl in hand and staring down a full size turkey. I'm 5'5 and she was staring me eyeball to eye ball siiting on that railing! This turkey had to be at least 2- 3 feet tall and about 20 pounds at least.
Some how panic overtook me and I pried the screen door opened and screamed for the hubby
..... I never scream when I'm scared, I just go all spooky silent, which probably saved me a beatin from this ole gal in the long run!
The hubby could not believe this bird was sitting there. He even got up from his chair and left the remote to investigate!.... I know~ he left the remote!
Every night the old gal would come back to roost on our porch railing. We learned to always look before going out at night, to not disturb her.
One day she was gone, but not gone gone. She had laid her eggs! Where I am still not sure, but it was close to where we kept out trash barrell. Any time I would try to take the trash out, she would come at me.... and friends turkeys are super fast. They can run fast and fly fast! I think I read somewhere that they can fly at about 45 mph!
As it turns out~~~ I am super fast too when chased by a wild turkey!
The turkey became so bad, that I literally tried to DRIVE my trash to the barrell only to have her attack the truck!!!!!
goofy????? not one bit!
over protective mother hen attack turkeys????? I believe so!
side note:
the pictured turkeys will in no way attack you, they are your friends and will love you...
